Person profile
Creator Context
Emile Hirsch is an American actor and producer known for Into the Wild, Milk, Speed Racer, Lone Survivor, The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His role as gay-rights activist Cleve Jones in Milk is a notable identity-related credit, and he has supported humanitarian relief, including work in Haiti with Sean Penn’s organization and efforts that promoted Oxfam. Hirsch has said he is not politically active and generally favors direct charitable action over campaigning. His career is otherwise broad and commercially varied, without a sustained public focus on DEI, representation activism or identity politics. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault after an altercation with a female entertainment executive at Sundance and completed alcohol rehabilitation, a controversy that remains part of his public reputation but is unrelated to woke politics.
