Why 36%? See the score breakdownBreakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Outpost.
Woke representation / casting
The show has a very diverse cast and focuses heavily on strong women. Many main roles are played by actors of South Asian and Black heritage, including a smart Black female scientist named Wren. Almost all the leaders, fighters, and smart people are women. At the same time, some male characters are shown as silly or bumbling. This style of casting is very common for modern fantasy shows, and viewers will easily notice it.
48%
Woke political dialogue
The show does not have modern political speeches, activist words, or current political talking points. The characters speak only about fantasy elements like magic, old legends, and battles against evil rulers.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The main story is about revenge and fighting an evil empire. The fictional Blackblood race faces unfair treatment, but this is most likely a normal fantasy trope. It does not feel like a lesson about real-world racial issues or identity politics.
18%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The villains are part of an evil religious dictatorship. The story treats this as a simple fight against bad guys. It does not try to criticize real-world Western culture, traditional families, or Christian churches.
20%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
There was no big online outrage or culture-war fight about the show. The few complaints from viewers and reviewers were about the low budget, cheap effects, and cheesy acting. No one complained about a political agenda.
8%
Creator track record context
The main creators, Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin, make simple fantasy and faith-friendly shows. They do not get involved in politics. A few guest writers have progressive backgrounds, but the show is kept focused on simple fantasy stories.
