Woke Score
Lower is better
Review
This 2022 Netflix family movie tells a straight underdog story of a Rhode Island state trooper with dyslexia and hyperactivity who trains a hyperactive shelter dog named Ruby for the K-9 unit. The narrative sticks to perseverance, hard work, family support, shelter dog adoption, and doing the job—no identity politics, no activist lectures, no girlboss rebellion, no anti-cop messaging, no environmental sermons, and no colonial or systemic oppression framing. Disability challenges stay personal and inspirational, directly from the true story, with zero push for modern identity agendas. Light faith-based “Godwinks” moral tones appear but stay background.
