The series follows dinosaurs from the first small dinosaur relatives in the Triassic period to the asteroid that ends most dinosaur life. The animals must survive predators, fires, cold, rising seas, drought, and changing plants. Each episode moves through a new age as the animals spread across land, water, and sky. Morgan Freeman’s calm narration gives the show a grand, serious tone, while hunts and deaths make it more intense for young children.
The main ideas are evolution, survival, mating, parenting, competition, and extinction. Small animals grow into giant hunters, armored plant eaters, ocean reptiles, and flying species. The story shows how climate and other changes can help one group while destroying another. The final episode follows the asteroid strike and the collapse of a world that lasted for more than 150 million years.
