Stephen King is a longtime registered Democrat who joined the party in 1970. Since 2016 he has been a very vocal public critic of Donald Trump, repeatedly posting on X that Trump is authoritarian, fascist-leaning, and “worse than any horror story” he has written. He signed a 2016 open letter from writers opposing Trump’s candidacy and has endorsed Democratic candidates.
