English actress best known as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, later starring in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Women. After the franchise she became one of the most visible celebrity feminists of her generation: appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014, she launched the HeForShe campaign with a globally circulated speech defining feminism as equal rights, calling gender a spectrum, and urging men to join. She later took a year off acting for that work, ran the feminist book club Our Shared Shelf, campaigned for women's political quotas, joined a G7 gender-equality advisory body, and helped found Time's Up UK, donating £1 million to its Justice and Equality Fund.
