The narrative focuses on traditional, family-friendly themes of friendship, grief, forgiveness, and teamwork. There are no activist identity-politics themes. However, there is a recurring, highly visible undercurrent of comedic queer-coding between Dr. Robotnik and his assistant Agent Stone, which includes a visual joke featuring a statue of the god of mutual love.

There is no modern progressive critique of Western culture, traditional family structures, or masculinity. The story depicts the government agency G.U.N. as highly suspicious and incompetent, which is faithful to the video game source material. The film avoids any modern activist lecturing about capitalism or whiteness.

While the vast majority of conservative and anti-woke viewers celebrated the film as a fun, traditional alternative to modern activist movies, a few minor online complaints questioned whether Director Rockwell represented a forced female boss archetype. There were also occasional worries about the romantic undertones between Robotnik and Agent Stone.

The primary writers, directors, and producers have an exceptionally low woke footprint, averaging close to zero. Some of the crew have minor left-leaning personal politics or past casting projects with diversity goals, but their professional contributions to this franchise remain strictly focused on mainstream family entertainment.
