Gullak follows the Mishra family in a small North Indian town. Father Santosh works hard, mother Shanti runs the home, and their sons Annu and Aman deal with jobs, studies, money worries, and growing up. The family argues often, but the members remain close. The show uses warm and gentle humor to present ordinary middle class life. Most episodes focus on work, money, marriage, education, aging, and family bonds. Later seasons give Shanti more attention as she asks whether her identity is only connected to being a wife and mother. Season 5 also follows Bittu Ki Mummy as she starts a YouTube channel about women’s empowerment. The show supports the idea that women deserve value beyond housework and family duties. These ideas appear within family stories, and they do not control the whole series. The stronger focus on women’s identity arrives late and remains less important than the show’s stories about family life and everyday problems.
