Constellation follows Jo Ericsson, a Swedish astronaut who survives a disaster on the International Space Station. When Jo returns to Earth, she finds that her home, husband, and daughter do not feel the same. She investigates strange gaps in her memory and signs of another reality. The show uses a slow, tense style with science fiction, family drama, and horror.
The clearest representation choice is a woman leading an international space mission, supported by a mixed cast of astronauts and scientists. The story focuses on motherhood, family bonds, grief, and the fear of losing your own identity. It also shows scientists hiding dangerous research and putting people at risk.
