John David Washington is an American actor and occasional producer, the son of Denzel Washington, who played college football at Morehouse before a brief pro career and a shift into acting. He became widely known as Ricky Jerret on HBO's Ballers, then as Ron Stallworth in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, a race-and-policing drama released in conversation with contemporary white-supremacist politics; the same period brought Monsters and Men, another film built around a police shooting and divided black community loyalties. Later leads in Tenet, Malcolm & Marie, The Creator, and the August Wilson adaptation The Piano Lesson mix blockbuster and prestige work, with the Wilson/Lee projects framed around black history, family legacy, and cultural authenticity rather than a single franchise identity.
