Angus Mackenzie Nicholson Wright (1934–2012) was a British television producer and executive, remembered as co-founder and managing director of the Britt Allcroft Company and as an executive producer of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (about series 3–5) and the first season of Shining Time Station. He earlier produced and directed children’s and light-entertainment shows at Southern Television, including How and Houseparty, then headed religious programming at TVS and Meridian (Come Sunday), working professionally with church figures such as Robert Runcie, Terry Waite, and Desmond Tutu. Later executive-producer credits included The Magic Adventures of Mumfie, James the Cat, and Captain Pugwash. After retiring in the late 1990s he lived in Monoblet, France, as a church pianist and local councillor. The public record is that of a commercial children’s-TV businessman, not an identity-politics figure. A 1990s letter defending Thomas stressed traditional virtues such as duty, loyalty, kindness, and parental security. Later franchise diversity changes came after his retirement.
