Wheelman follows an unnamed getaway driver who has recently left prison. He takes a job driving two robbers after a bank theft in Boston, but a phone call warns him that the men will kill him. He leaves them behind with the stolen money and races through the city while two rival crime groups chase him. Callers threaten his daughter and ex-wife, so the night becomes a tense fight for his life and his family.
The story centers on a father who wants to rebuild trust with his daughter. Katie argues with him, learns to drive his Porsche, and helps him survive the final gang attack. Jessica tells him that he could work at a garage and stay home, but the criminals use her and Katie as pressure points.
