Gardner Elliot is the first person born on Mars, where scientists hide his life from Earth. At sixteen, he travels to Earth to meet Tulsa, an online friend, and to find the man he thinks is his father. Earth's gravity is killing him, so their trip becomes a race against time. The movie mixes young romance, family mystery, road-trip danger, and soft science fiction.
The opening gives a short warning that people have harmed Earth and may use up its resources. That warning supports the Mars mission, but it soon fades behind Gardner's search for love and family.
