Kaithi follows Dilli, a prisoner released on parole after ten years in jail. He wants to meet his young daughter for the first time, but a police drug case pulls him into a deadly night. Inspector Bejoy needs Dilli to drive a truck carrying poisoned officers to a hospital while gang members hunt them. At the same time, a constable and a group of college students defend seized cocaine at a police office. The film is a dark, tense action thriller with bursts of rough humor and a strong father-daughter ending.
The film centers on crime, duty, family, and the chance for a former criminal to change. The drug gang threatens ordinary people, and the police are shown as necessary even when some officers are corrupt or careless. Dilli's daughter, a female college student, and a probation officer appear in small supporting roles, while the main action group is made up of local men. Dilli, Bejoy, the constable, and the students all learn to protect people outside their own circle. The story closes on family love, personal change, and the cost of violence.
