Alexa Mendoza is a lively high school student who is trying to live normally after cancer treatment. Her best friend Katie Cooper stays beside her as they start high school in the small Virginia town of Wellard. Alexa worries that classmates will treat her differently, while Katie worries about losing her closest friend.
