Voletta Wallace was a Jamaican-American retired teacher, author, estate manager, and founder of the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation. After the death of her son, The Notorious B.I.G., she devoted much of her public life to preserving his legacy, supporting disadvantaged children through books, computers, school trips, arts, and education, and working with families who had lost young musicians. The foundation’s Books Instead of Guns program and related community events emphasized literacy, opportunity, and youth support.
