Person profile
Creator Context
Sarah Fain is a television writer and producer who has worked for more than two decades with Elizabeth Craft on Angel, The Shield, Women’s Murder Club, Dollhouse, Lie to Me, The Vampire Diaries, The Fix, and other genre and procedural series. She also taught English and creative writing through Teach For America before entering television. Fain has repeatedly discussed gender inequality in Hollywood, the effects of #MeToo, and the underrepresentation of women behind the camera. She has participated in women-writers networks, advocated hiring more female directors, and said showrunners should improve the hiring of women and people of color on crews. Her public persona is not centered on partisan politics, but these recurring workplace-equity statements and sustained support for women’s representation place her in the representation-first range.
