Swedish-Iranian producer, director and co-owner of Hobab, Nima Yousefi has been active in film production since joining the company in 2010. He has produced or co-produced international arthouse features including Clara Sola, Stupid Young Heart, A White, White Day, Beautiful Beings, Paradise Is Burning, The Apprentice, My Favourite Cake and multiple Nordic projects, while earlier directing short films such as A4, Kilimanjaro and Moonwolves. Yousefi was selected for European Film Promotion’s Producers on the Move in 2021 and describes his work as filmmaker-led, internationally oriented cinema with broad audience potential. In interviews he has explicitly said that he chooses projects for the directors’ visions rather than whether the filmmakers are female or male. Although his portfolio includes stories about childhood, family breakdown, class, migration and social pressure, there is no clear public record of partisan activism, DEI campaigning, culture-war statements or a sustained identity-politics persona.
