Person profile
Creator Context
Argentine-French filmmaker, writer and audiovisual professional whose career spans directing, screenwriting, production, editing, assistant directing and script supervision. After studying film and multimedia production in Argentina, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Estonia, Joyaux worked on more than twenty films, series and commercials across Latin America and Europe. As a director, Joyaux has made experimental and narrative projects including La América aislada, Ashes, The Two Halves and Tomorrow Island. The latter centers on a cross-border love story between a Soviet telegraphist and an American lover and has screened at numerous LGBTQ+ festivals, including Reeling, QueerX, Iris Prize and international lesbian and queer film events. Berlinale Talents describes Joyaux’s work as focused on LGBTQI+ stories, emotion, identity and dystopian beauty. This repeated queer-centered creative pattern is a substantial part of Joyaux’s public artistic profile, although there is no clear evidence of a broader partisan campaign or activist organization persona.
