Anvita Dutt is an Indian screenwriter, lyricist and director who spent 14 years in advertising before entering mainstream Hindi cinema through Yash Raj Films. Her early work largely consisted of commissioned commercial writing and lyrics for films including Neal 'n' Nikki, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dostana, Queen, Shaandaar, Phillauri and Veere Di Wedding, providing no clear evidence of a sustained political persona. Her later directing career established a strong representation-first pattern: Bulbbul and Qala center women constrained by patriarchal violence, social conditioning, abusive family structures and the denial of female agency.
