Ludwig follows John Taylor, a quiet puzzle maker who lives alone under the name Ludwig. His identical twin James is a police detective who suddenly disappears, so James's wife Lucy asks John to take his place inside a Cambridge murder team. John tries to find clues about James while solving a new murder in each episode.
