Person profile
Creator Context
Leonardo Lacca is a Recife-born Brazilian director, screenwriter, editor, producer and cast-preparation specialist, as well as a founding member of the Pernambuco production company Trincheira Films. His work includes the features Permanência and Seu Cavalcanti, shorts such as Décimo Segundo and Ela Morava na Frente do Cinema, production on Animal Político, and collaboration with Kleber Mendonça Filho on O Som ao Redor, Aquarius, Bacurau and The Secret Agent. His filmmaking repeatedly foregrounds Recife, regional Brazilian experience, memory, aging, family history and locally rooted performers; in casting discussions he has emphasized that minor or nonprofessional characters can be essential and that a performer’s lived presence may matter more than conventional technique. This suggests a meaningful regional and authenticity-focused creative pattern, but there is no strong evidence of a sustained activist, partisan, DEI or culture-war public persona.
