Person profile
Creator Context
James Acaster is a British comedian, writer and performer known for surreal, highly structured stand-up, panel-show appearances, books, podcasts and music projects. His work has increasingly incorporated personal and socially conscious material, including depression, suicidal thoughts, therapy, faith, British identity, Brexit and criticism of hostile treatment of transgender people. He has publicly challenged anti-trans comedy and discussed political subjects such as nationalism and white privilege, while generally presenting these ideas through irony and personal experience rather than as a conventional activist platform. Mental-health openness and recurring progressive cultural commentary form a substantial pattern, although much of his wider career remains absurdist, autobiographical and apolitical in tone.
