Ponniyin Selvan: Part II continues the story of the Chola royal family in South India around 968 AD. Prince Arulmozhi faces danger as rival armies and Pandyan assassins try to destroy the dynasty. Aditha Karikalan struggles with guilt and his lost love for Nandini. The film has a serious tone, with battles, palace plots, romance, revenge, and questions about power. The film gives important roles to Nandini and Kundavai, who use intelligence and political influence to shape events. These women are often strong and capable, but the story presents them as historical characters rather than as modern activists.
